2017 was a magical year for the Vouchers for Vietnam team. The idea for our exciting new enterprise started to take shape and we were lucky enough to sample some of the luxurious offerings that Vietnam has to offer locals and international guests. We have thoroughly enjoyed putting together a short blog highlight some of the best memories of our year.
OUR FIRST OFFICE
Well, not officially an office but who could complain about the view from the Maison D'Tet in Tay Ho (Westlake), Hanoi? The selection of delicious food and abundant varieties of coffee from around the world were enough to get our creative juices flowing. It sure beats the traditional office space.
EXPLORING OUR HOME
What separates Hanoi from many cities around the world is how it has kept its cultural charm and historical architecture. We are lucky enough to live 5 minutes away from several sites such as the Ancient Citadel and Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
LUXURY CITY BREAKS
Summer arrived and so did the need for some 'city style' refreshment. The Daewoo hotel was recommended by some Korean friends because of their pool but we ended staying a night in this fantastic hotel.
A business partner of ours decided that we needed to explore a bit further out of the city and he had just the thing to give us something different to the normal Vietnamese style tour. We weren't aware that we would be travelling for 4 hours on the back of an actual American jeep, dating back to times during the war. We are now official (token) members of the Jeep club in Vietnam and couldn't have met a more welcoming and joyful people.
A TROPICAL ISLAND PARADISE
Phu Quoc in the south of Vietnam is an up and coming island that is half complete with luxury resorts and hotels lining the coast and half not-yet-complete construction. It's very easy to miss the construction by staying in luxury resorts such as the lovely Salinda Resort. Rory's bar on the west coast is a great place for a hearty style meal and cheap drinks to watch a sunset that seems to get better and better each day you spend there.
There is no better time in the year than Christmas to indulge in a bit of luxury wining and dining. We very unselfishly decided that we need to sample more of the hotels around Hanoi so that we can provide a more expert service to our customers. Why not enjoy a Christmas eve afternoon tea (coffee) at the Metropole, a gold package Christmas brunch at the Intercontinental Hanoi and New Years Eve roof top drinks at the Pan Pacific, Hanoi? We just had to, for the business needs obviously!
